How Vacuum Pumps Work (Animated)
Each guide shows the working principle as an animation, then walks through it step by step. For a side-by-side comparison of all 13 pump types see vacuum pump types compared.
How a Rotary Vane Vacuum Pump Works
How a rotary vane vacuum pump works, animated: suction, transport, compression and exhaust, why it needs oil, gas ballast and pressure range.
How a Turbomolecular Pump Works
How a turbomolecular pump works, animated: molecular flow, rotor and stator stages, compression, why it needs a backing pump, and pressure range.
How a Liquid Ring Vacuum Pump Works
How a liquid ring vacuum pump works, animated: eccentric impeller, suction and discharge ports, why water vapour limits the vacuum, and uses.
How a Vacuum Ejector Works
Animated explanation of the vacuum ejector: motive nozzle, entrainment, mixing and diffuser, plus steam ejectors, air vacuum generators and water aspirators.
